Just livin’ mate…

Well, I’m almost here for a week now and everything is just perfect. My host parents offered me their car to get around and the key to their wireless LAN to stay in contact with the rest of the non-Aussi world. My room is bigger than the one I’ve got in good old Germany and it comes with a TV, a couch, a queen size bed, and a stereo. I have my own bathroom and can use the laundry when ever I need it. School starts at 9am every morning from Monday till Friday and finishes at 3.30pm except for Mondays, where we finish early at 3pm. Most of the time I’m attending German classes. Sometimes I’m able to work as an relieve teacher, which was 4h during the last week. I used the last weekend to get around a bit. I went to Kings Park which is right above the centre of Perth. I took some photos, which are shown above. After a short walk into town, where I had something to eat I drove to Cottesloe, which is the Suburb I lived in when I was here in 1999. I waited for the sun to set so I could have a beer at the Cottesloe Hotel namely the “Cott”. More to come…

Takeoff…

Getting started! As I chose Emirates to get down to Australia I took off at Düsseldorf going via Dubai to Perth. The night before I checked in online, so I was able to choose a seat, which turned out to be a idea because when I got there I had a hole row for myself. At least to Dubai. I enjoyed the flight but could not get any sleep after all. When we touched down on Dubai airport at six o’clock in the morning the captain told us that it was already 36°C outside. Being in Dubai was no fun at all. There was no place where one could have a rest, just thousand of people wondering and sitting around. The only good thing was the very cheap duty free shopping and that I found a place to get some rest after all. The Boing from Dubai to Perth was much newer than the previous one and although I did not have a hole row for myself I had a window seat and the food was just as good as on the one before. After having breakfast and something to drink I finally fell asleep for about six hours. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz… So all I had to do know was to have dinner (again, very delicious) watch a movie and wait until touchdown. After that I had to get through the passport inspection and the check whether you are brining something into Australia they do not want you to. Which is quite a lot SEE HERE. Finally being a free and legal tourist in Australia I found my host mom who picked me up from the airport at 1am and we drove to my new home for the next five weeks…
